The Excesses of PowerPoint

In our field as in others, few days go by without creating or using a Power Point. It is ubiquitous. And occasionally it is over-the-top. For an example of that, check out this article from the New York Times as to a PowerPoint diagram purporting to illustrate American strategy in Afghanistan. Looking at it, it is amazing that we haven't yet successfully wrapped up that foreign adventure.

"Did You Know"

This is an amazing video (and a breathless one) that was shown recently by Sony at their executive conference. It speaks to technology on steroids, the exponential growth of knowledge, and the challenge facing all of us to stay current and keep up (and cope without going crazy). Check it out here:

An Ode to Melisa Kotecki Schlote

In the midst of politics, clients and so much more
It is our fair Melisa who manages our communications store

She landed this job by writing an ode as her cover letter
In light of the competition, she was clearly much better

Like the mother bird of SE2
It is she who keeps close tabs on our crew

And though she counsels us all on how to fly
It is now she who has stepped out to reach for the sky

Ambitious, driven and ready to learn
A coveted spot in the Denver Leadership Forum she has earned

This CU program will help her hone her skills
And she'll make a difference from downtown to the foothills

With her common sense, kindness and clever wit
We think this honor is the perfect fit

For the brilliance we've known all along
Is about to grow and multiply, ten times as strong.

Congratulations, Melisa!

Melisa Kotecki Schlote, SE2's Director of Business Operations, was recently selected for the Denver Community Leadership Forum, a highly competitive professional and leadership development program at the University of Colorado. For more information on the program, click here.
