SE2 job announcement

SE2, a leading Colorado-based mass communications firm focused on public issues, policy and social marketing, continues to grow and is seeking to hire an associate to help us expand our outreach to the Latino community. An absolute requirement for this position is the ability to speak and write fluently in both Spanish and English, as well as to translate English into Spanish.

We believe in helping employees grow within our firm and are glad to consider early- to mid-career candidates. The main attributes that lead to success at SE2 are strong writing skills, critical thinking, an interest in public policy, attention to detail, and the ability to keep a number of balls in the air. We anticipate that the successful candidate will possess all of the skills related to our core business as well as this multicultural capability and will work with a variety of our clients, not just those who need help reaching the Latino community.

Interested candidates should send a resume, a letter of interest, and writing samples in Spanish and/or English to se2jobs@publicpersuasion.com.
Any questions also should be directed to that email address. No phone calls please. We will consider candidates who don’t live in this area but are interested in relocating.

We are in hiring mode now. We will sort through resumes as we receive them and will continue to accept them until the position is filled. For more information about SE2, please visit www.publicpersuasion.com.

60 seconds with Illana Poley

I'm rather busy in my role as SE2's mascot but I managed to find a minute (literally) to learn more about Illana Poley, who was recently promoted to Director of Policy and Research.

Megaphone Man (MM): What’s your favorite thing about research?

Illana Poley (IP): The charts and graphs. We do a lot of writing around here – full sentence, paragraph-style writing. Research is often presented in more graphical form, so it’s a good change of pace. And the more time you spend with research, the more you learn – it’s like pulling away the layers of an onion.

MM: Yum, onions! But isn’t research really expensive?

IP: Just like with all our work, the cost of research can range from very affordable to more comprehensive (and more expensive). Looking through existing data or even digging through past news stories counts as “research” and it can be very low cost – but still valuable to developing strong communications strategies.

MM: So, how did you get to be so smart?

IP: I just like to spend time with data to find new and different ways to understand public issues. The real question is, why can’t I sing and dance on stage?

MM: I can do the Jersey Fist Pump! Thanks for the 60 seconds, Illana. Now get back to work.

IP: It was my honor, Megaphone Man.
