The tortoise gets a turbo; SE2 is hiring for two positions
A friend who has monitored the Colorado public relations and advertising landscape for the better part of two decades once referred to SE2 as the “tortoise” character from the classic Aesop fable The Tortoise and the Hare. He meant it as a compliment and we definitely took it as one.
Since SE2 was founded 15 years ago, we have rarely been the trendiest – and we never have been the biggest – agency in town. Other firms have played the part of the hare, bounding ahead of us with seeming ease. More often than not, however, we have eventually passed them. In fact, a number of those agencies don’t even exist anymore. Sniff, sniff.
Over SE2’s history we’ve grown by an average of one additional employee a year. That’s definitely tortoise-like behavior in an industry where agencies will hire a phalanx of new employees when they get a big new client and then shed employees just as quickly when a client leaves.
We don’t go through those cycles of layoffs and our employees infrequently leave on their volition. Some have been with us for more than a decade.
All this means that we don’t do a lot of hiring and that makes it all the more notable that we are looking for two new employees right now – not to replace departing staffers but to grow our team.
We are seeking an additional Associate to work on a broad range of client projects and a Project Manager to help us manage a substantial workload, including project scoping, budgets, timelines, etc.
Be forewarned: Our approach to hiring could be perceived by applicants as choosy, finicky, particular – even persnickety. That doesn’t mean that we’re looking for the most conventional candidates but we’re definitely looking for extremely high performers. (One successful candidate applied in verse but we wouldn’t recommend recycling that approach.)
We are moving on a rather rapid timeline. We hope to have applications in hand for the Associate position by Wednesday, June 20. For the Project Manager slot, we hope to have applications in hand by the following Monday, June 25.

To paraphrase typical contest rules, many will apply, only two will be hired. Could it be you?
